cobra-starship-guilty-pleasure.mp3 [COBRA STARSHIP][It's from their upcoming album. I likes it.]
08-glamorous-indie-rock-roll.mp3 [THE KILLERS][This was not on either of their albums, but it should be. Despite Brandon Flowers douchiness, he's got one hellavuh voice.]
06-im-a-vampire.mp3 [FUTURE BIBLE HEROES][This song is kinda wtf. But eerily good.]
Some great cover songs I’ve been listening to lately
April 28, 2007
Ted Leo, “Dancing in the Dark” (Bruce Springsteen)
Grizzly Bear, “He Hit Me (and it Felt Like a Kiss)” (The Crystals)
The Killers, “Romeo and Juliet” (Dire Straits)
Fiona Apple, “Sally’s Song” (The Nightmare Before Christmas)
Damien Rice, “When Doves Cry” (Prince)
Bloc Party, “Say It Right” (Nelly Furtado)
Read My Mind
February 11, 2007
The Killers released the video for “Read My Mind:, the third video off of Sam’s Town. In my opinion, this song and “When You Were Young” are the best songs off the album, so they totally shot their wad too quickly. I find the video quite obnoxious, and a little too much use of Japanese culture and people as props. Or something. I found this comment off another blog, which was right on, so I’ll just repost it.
This is a pretty flacid try aat something endearing. The lead singer looks like a total prat and there is something very forced about the whole scenario. Certainly in terms of editorial they should have waited to introduce the band before having the lead singer start gesticulating like that. The song is actually pleasant, but the plastic antics and the shove-it-down-your-throat sentimentality is all quite stupid and uncreative. We have seen the Beatles-Meet-The-World shtick all too many times.
In sum, The Killers seem to be trying to hard lately and it shows. Also, Brandon Flowers = Freddie Mercury. Still love the song though.
A great big sled
December 13, 2006
Did you know that the Killers recorded a Christmas song? Don’t get excited, it’s pretty horrendous.
Bones
November 5, 2006
As mentioned, the Tim Burton-directed video for Bones is quite choice. Although Brandon Flowers is truly starting to annoy me and it is quite a literal interpretation of the song, I do love that it stars the fantastic Devon Aoki. Anyone know who the guy is? Also, didn’t the Grateful Dead do a video like this?
holy shit. holy shit. holy shit. holy shit. holy shit. holy shit.

[The Killers; Sam's Town] [sendspace] [yousendit]
Updates:
10:58: I hate it. It sounds like a Celine Dion album
11:30, Ok, it’s growing on me. The synthesizer is a little heavy.
1:55pm. Ok, it’s listenable. “When We Were Young” is still the best track.
4:10pm Ok, it’s growing on me. There is a futuristic, show-like quality with some good melodies.
5:15pm. I’ve been listening to it all day and deluding myself. It blows.
Dammit, I have failed as a music bootlegger.
September 24, 2006
Another new Killers song, called “Bones”. I can’t believe I haven’t gotten this album yet. I can’t believe I will have to get it on the sameday it officially comes out. That’s so…for the common people.
hotness overload
September 20, 2006
Dane Cook and The Killers will be on the SNL season premiere on Saturday.
Oh yea, you all probably have plans on Saturday night. Forget it.
The Killers official website, apparently.
September 14, 2006
Wow, for some reason, web searches for the Killers has directed a lot of people here- I have posted stuff on them, but really, I’m no expert and it’s nothing new. I will repost two of their best songs, “When We Were Young” and “The Ballad of Michael Valentine” for all of you to enjoy. And once I get their new album, I will be sure to post it on here as soon as I can.
Awesomeness is taking over the world.
September 7, 2006
After their epic video for “When We Were Young”, the Killers will have Tim Burton directing their next video. This band is crazy out of control with awesomeness. It’s about to hit the peak and tumble over to overdone.
VMAs
September 2, 2006
No, I didn’t watch the VMAs, I heard they were boring. Panic! at the Disco won video of the year? Who decides these things? But I did watch some selected performances.
I love theatricality in music. Not many bands can really pull it off these days. My Chemical Romance can really bring it though. Their performance on the VMAs was one of the better moments of the boring evening. But guys, you’re not the Misfits. Just an fyi.
The NYtimes is also trying to keep up with the shit kids are listening to, and did a piece on Gerard Way. Like they’ve just discovered him or something.
And the Killers perform “When You Were Young”. They sound okay.
Later that night the Rapture played a post-VMA thing. And my jealousy rages for anyone who was there, because they are the band that I will now be unhealthily obsessing over.
When You Were Young
August 20, 2006
The Killers think they are the next coming of Christ on the music world. First their proclomation that their forthcoming album will be the most amazing album ever, and now the videos are hitting epic proportions. I think they want this to be the next “November Rain”. I wish they would get over themselves. I wish I would stop agreeing with them, because I think the song is amazing.
I can’t wait.

More details on the Killers new album. I’m squirming in my seat thinking about it.

WHY CEDRIC, WHY?

It’s like the kid that was hit by the train in Stand By Me.
The rock feud of the century: Fall Out Boy v. The Killers.
Tee-hee. The titles of these lectures already offend me.
Well, Jake, I spy a hickey. Could it be from Heath?

Well, since Heath has to prove his uber-heteosexuality after making out with Jake, he is starring as the titular role in Cassonova.
You know what looks good? North Country. Kind of the Accused meets Monster meets Roseanne. (Remember when they worked in that plastics factory with George Clooney?)
Also, Flightplan was a letdown. Should have been called Panic Room 2: Panic at 30,000 feet. Although it did have Peter Sarsgaard playing himself, someone with a lazy eyelid and a child molester’s voice. Love him. It made me certainly blow chunks thinking about my upcoming flight to Florida.
somebody told me

Topher Grace and the Killers are on SNL tonight. What do you think the chances are that Toph will make out with the singer?
