Many people know Conor Oberst as the king of emo and frontman to Bright Eyes, the super-emotional band that are heroes to suicidal teens everywhere. Little known fact: he also fronts another band called Desaparecidos, which actually can be described more as punk. THe lyrics are also a bit more political and not as weepy, woe-is-me as Bright Eyes. I’d say it’s Operation Ivy meets Hanson. Anyhow, there are lots fo distortion pedals and screaming, but it still quite pleasing musically. Their album came out in 2002, and it has been one of my favorites ever since.
